Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Locals is a community-driven guide to Amsterdam. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@tastemakers.community.
2. What data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service:
- Account information — When you sign in with Google or email, we store your name, email address, and profile photo.
- Content you create — Vouches, comments, and saved favourites you submit in the app.
- Error reports — Anonymous crash logs to help us fix bugs (via Sentry). No personal information is included.
- Location — Used only to show nearby places on the map. We do not store your location.
We do not collect advertising identifiers, contacts, photos, location history, or payment information.
3. How we use your data
- To create and manage your account
- To display your name and photo alongside your vouches and comments
- To send transactional emails (e.g. password reset) — no marketing emails without your consent
- To fix bugs and improve the app using anonymous error reports
4. Who we share data with
We use the following third-party services to operate the app:
- Supabase — Database and authentication, hosted in the EU. Privacy Policy
- Google Maps Platform — Map and place data display. Privacy Policy
- Sentry — Anonymous crash reporting, with personal information stripped before sending. Privacy Policy
We do not sell your data to any third party.
5. Public content
Vouches and comments you post are public and visible to all users. Your display name and profile photo appear alongside your posts. You can remove your posts at any time from within the app.
6. Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Some anonymous, aggregated data (e.g. vouch counts) may remain.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data. To delete your account, go to your profile in the app. For any other requests, email hello@tastemakers.community and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's privacy
Locals is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We use HTTPS for all data in transit, row-level security on our database, and access controls limiting who can see your data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. We'll update the date at the top and notify you in the app for significant changes.
